Backup Administrator

- Design and implement backup strategies across physical, virtual, and cloud environments
- Configure and maintain backup systems (Commvault, Veeam, Acronis, Bacula, or similar)
- Perform regular restore tests to ensure data integrity and recovery readiness
- Monitor backup jobs and resolve any issues promptly
- Maintain backup documentation, retention schedules, and disaster recovery (DR) plans
- Coordinate DR drills and ensure compliance with data protection policies and best practices
Systems & Infrastructure Support
- Administer Microsoft-based systems (Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange, Office 365)
- Manage Linux environments (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS), including updates and performance tuning
- Provide 1st and 2nd line support to internal users
- Document IT procedures and configurations
- Assist with infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and deployments
- Collaborate with internal IT team and external vendors as needed
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Solid experience in IT administration with a strong focus on backup and recovery
- Hands-on experience with backup technologies (e.g., Commvault, Veeam, Acronis, Bacula, Nakivo, etc.)
- Proven ability to perform backup configuration, scheduling, retention management, and recovery testing
- Experience with both Microsoft (Windows Server, AD, O365) and Linux systems
- Understanding of disaster recovery concepts and best practices
- Basic knowledge of networking (DNS, DHCP, VPN, routing)
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Fluency in English (German is a plus)
- Relevant certifications (e.g., VMCE, MCSA, CompTIA Server+, Linux+) are advantageous
